Hybrid Permanent Bridge

Woman smiling with hybrid permanent bridge from Palani Center for Dental Implants in Rancho Palos Verdes, CAAt Palani Center for Dental Implants, we offer several implant-supported options for full mouth restorations. If you are missing many teeth, or are currently using a denture, we can improve the aesthetics and function of your smile, with a hybrid permanent bridge!

A hybrid permanent bridge is used to replace all of the teeth on either the lower jaw, upper jaw, or both. You may qualify to receive a hybrid permanent bridge if your natural teeth have already been removed, or if you are evaluating your need for teeth alternatives. Many patients choose to have their entire mouth restored at the same time.

The Implant Procedure

To install a hybrid permanent bridge, we must first place several dental implants beneath the gum tissue and into the jawbone. Giri Palani, DDS, FICOI will make a small incision in the tissue to expose the underlying bone, and place the implants. Once the implant is in place, the healing period will begin.

Over the next several months, the implant and your bone will fuse together through the process of osseointegration. Once the process is complete, we can schedule a second procedure to expose the implants, and place abutments (support structures), which link the implant to the hybrid permanent bridge.

Permanent Bridge Supported by Implants

There are several types of hybrid permanent bridges.
•  Upper Hybrid Bridge - As the name suggests, an upper hybrid bridge is used to replace the teeth in the upper jaw. Any remaining teeth must be removed, and the jaw must be allowed to heal before we surgically place six dental implants. The number of implants needed can vary from patient to patient. A computer-generated surgical guide will help us plan the location of each dental implant. The upper hybrid restoration exists as a single piece that will replace your teeth and cover your gums.
•  Lower Hybrid Bridge - As the name also suggests, a lower hybrid bridge is used to replace the teeth in the lower jaw. Unlike the upper, the extraction of any remaining teeth, and the surgical placement of the implants can be performed during the same surgery. In general, a lower hybrid bridge involves a much faster treatment process.

It is important to note that we cannot immediately place your permanent restoration. In most cases, the implants need time to heal. However, we can give you a temporary bridge that will function similar to your permanent one. It will also protect the surgical sites and implants while you wait.

All-on-4

For our patients that want a less-invasive surgery and a faster recovery time, we also offer "All-on-4". All-on-4 is a revolutionary style of hybrid permanent bridge that only uses four implants for support. Much like the other hybrid bridges, All-on-4 can give you a beautiful new smile that can withstand the forces of chewing and be treated like your natural teeth. All-on-4 allows us to minimize the number of implants because of precision planning. Using a computer-generating surgical guide, we place each implant at a specific angle to maximize support. Because there are fewer implants, the surgery and healing process are much shorter. To learn more about All-on4, talk with Giri Palani, DDS, FICOI.
